This means that when you talk about your life, including your parents, or your love of the school, for example, you must refer to your personal experiences. If you're talking about anything that isn't personal, it's going to come across as egotistical. In fact, egotism is absolutely essential when debating. When you're on the same team, you should not become divisive or appear arrogant.
